Clinch-Powell RC & D

Welcome to the Clinch-Powell Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council. Clinch-Powell RC&D is a rural community development organization serving Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Hawkins, and Union counties. Our mission is to serve the needs of our communities, to protect our environment, and to enhance the quality of life of the people of the area through leadership, education, volunteerism, and action. The RC&D is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Clinch-Powell RC&D has been actively working in our community for over a decade. We provide educational programs to our youth, such as Conservation Camp, a 3 day event that teaches 6th graders about the environment and how to protect it, and Envirothon, an competition were area high-school student show their environmental knowledge. We also help students in our area by providing service-learning experiences through our Appalachia CARES program, part of the national AmeriCORPS program. We have played a leading role in regional heritage and tourism efforts and we have fostered programs design to develop leadership skills in local residents.
